RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: Chhatra Shibir activists cut tendons of legs of a Chhatra League leader of Rajshahi University and shot another on the campus on Thursday noon.

The victims are RU Chhatra League leader Shariful Islam Saddam, and Golam Rabbani Tufan who sustained bullet injuries.

Critically injured Saddam and Tufan were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Witnesses said five or six young people attacked them suddenly when they were talking to each other in Mizaner Mor area and chopped Saddam indiscriminately.

They also shot Tufan, said a spot account of the incident.

President of RU Chhatra League Mizanur Rahman Rana alleged that Shibir men have cut the tendon of Saddam and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved.

Officer-in-Charge of Motihar Thana SM Abdus Sobhan told banglanews that they are conducting drive to arrest the involved persons.

Additional police were deployed on the campus to avert any further untoward situation, he added.
