DHAKA: President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (July 27) expressed profound shock at the death of Israfil Alam MP of Naogaon-6 constituency.
In a message of condolence, the President said he entered the political arena through labour politics. He (Israfil) always spoke about the rights of hard-living common people in the Jatiya Sangsad (parliament), he added.
“At his (Israfil) death, the country lost a promising and dedicated political leader,” Abdul Hamid said.
In a separate message of condolence, the prime minister said: “Israfil Alam had dedicated his entire life to the welfare of the country and the nation.”
She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Israfil Alam breathed his last at around 6:20 am Monday while undergoing treatment at the Square Hospital. He was 54.
