Former State Minister for Religious Affairs and the President of a section of Jamiat-e-Islam Mufti Wakkas died on early Wednesday. He was 73.

He breathed his last around 4:45am at a hospital in Babar Road of the capital while undergoing treatment.

Joint general secretary of Jamiat-e-Islam Maulana Abdul Malek Chowdhury confirming the matter said he will be laid to eternal rest at Monirampur of Jashore after Magrib prayer.

He left behind his wife, three sons, four daughters and a host of relatives, students and well-wishers to mourn his death.
