A court in Dhaka on Tuesday placed Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque on a five-day fresh remand in two separate cases filed over 2013 Baitul Mukarram violence.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder issued the order after the investigation officer had produced the Hefazat leader with a 17-day remand plea.
Earlier on April 26, Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury granted seven-day remand for Mamunul that ended today.
Mamunul Haque was arrested from Jamiya Rahmania Madrasa at Mohammadpur in the capital on April 18.
The two cases were filed with Motijheel police station over the group’s mayhem in the capital in May 2013.
