The application seeking permission to send BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment has reached law ministry.
According to the Law ministry sources, the secretary at the ministry received the files in this regard from the home ministry at about 11:00pm on Wednesday.
Earlier, Shamim Iskandar, younger brother of Khaleda Zia, handed an application to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Later, the home minister told the press that he sent the application to the law ministry for its opinion. Upon getting its view, the ministry will make the decision.
Having infected with coronavirus, the former prime minister is suffering from breathing and other complications.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia is already convicted in two graft cases while many other criminal and corruption cases are pending with the court.
She is out of the jail following the government’s executive order which is extended.
When asked, Anti-Corruption Commission counsel Md Khurshid Alam Khan told journalists that Khaleda Zia will need the court’s permission for going abroad.
