A 33-member new committee of Hefajat-e-Islam was announced on Monday, dropping all leaders involved allegedly in violent protests at different parts of the country from March 25 to 28.
The convening committee member secretary Nurul Islam made the announcement at a press conference at Jamia Islamia Makhjanul Ulum Madrassah in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area.
Nurul named himself the secretary general of the new committee.
On April 25, the central committee of the Qawmi madrasa-based Hefajat-e-Islam was dissolved.
Babunagari and Jihadi were amir and secretary general respectively of the dissolved committee.
