Tuku placed on 6-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed former president of Chhatra Dal Sultan Salauddin Tuku on a 6-day remand in a case filed with Paltan Thana.

Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the remand order when police produced him before the court with 10-day remand plea.

Earlier in the day, Salauddin Tuku was shown arrested in two cases filed with the thana.

Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Media Center Abu Yusuf said, “The cases were filed for obstructing and attacking police on Monday night.”

The cases were filed against hundred opposition leaders and activists, but their names were not disclosed.

Law enforcers arrested former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Sultan Salahuddin Tuku from in front of BNP Nayapaltan office on Monday night.

The incident took place when party chairperson Khaleda Zia went to party’s central office to see ailing leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
