Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said the party founder Ziaur Rahman's remains were not in Chandrima Udyan.
She said: "Khaleda Zia also know it very well that there is no grave or remains of Ziaur Rhman in the city's Chandrima Udyan."
Why they engaged in violence in that area despite knowing it well, the PM also asked.
Referring to the recent clashes between BNP men and police at Dhaka's Chandrima Udyan, she made the remark while addressing a programme virtually from her Gono Bhaban residence.
The premier said: "BNP engaged in fights at Chandrima Udyan...Why they stage such drama?"
Awami League Dhaka city north and south units jointly organised the memorial meeting at the party's Bangabandhu Avenue Central Office on the occasion of National Mourning Day.
Sheikh Hasina, also the AL President, asked if Khaleda Zia or Tarique Rahman could claim that they saw Zia's body.
No one saw it as there was no body (of Zia) in the box (which was brought from Chattogram), she added.
The PM later heard from HM Ershad that there was a body in combat uniform in the box. "Don't they (BNP men) know president do not wear combat dress?
Since then, they haven't given up the habit of engaging in clashes there," Sheikh Hasina said.
