BNP led 18-party MPs to join

DHAKA: Main opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance lawmakers are likely to join the current 19th session of the 9th Parliament on Wednesday.

A BNP member of parliament informed the matter to banglanews after a meeting of the opposition MPs chaired by party Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Khaleda has directed all lawmakers to stay in the capital.

According to the source, Khaleda Zia will place the proposal of non-party poll-time government before the parliament that was unveiled in Monday’s press conference and later handed over to AL general secretary.

The current 19th session of the 9th Parliament is set to resume at around 5:00pm Wednesday.

On October 9, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury adjourned the parliament session on account of Durga Puja and Eid-ul-Azha.

The incumbent parliament had been initiated on January 25, 2009 and the current session would be the last breath of the parliament as per the constitution, likely to end at October 24.
