Nine senior leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, including secretary general Mia Golam Porwar, have been arrested in the capital.

The arrestees include Jamaat executive committee member Abdur Rab, Ijjat Ullah, Mobarak Hossain, and former Chhatra Shibir president Yasin Arafat.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the leaders of Jamaat based on allegation of subversive acts.  

Deputy Police Commissioner of Gulshan Division of DMP Md Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter on Monday evening. 
 
According to police, Jamaat-Shibir leaders were arrested while holding secret meeting to commit subversive activities.
