10 Jamaat-BNP men held in C’Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: Law enforcers, in separate drives, arrested 10 leaders and activists of BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami from various areas of the district on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Officer-in-Charge of Cox’s Bazar district Detective Branch (DB) of Police Manzur Alam told banglanews that a team of district DB Police arrested the secretary of ‘Maulana Sayedee Mukti Parishad’ Maulvi Mohammad Alamgir, also district Jamaat leader from Kalatoli area of the city on Wednesday noon.

Maulvi Mohammad Alamgir was allegedly involved with the subversive activities carried out on February 15 by a group under the banner ‘Maulana Sayedee Mukti Parishad’, he added.

Meanwhile, Cox’s Bazar Sadar Thana Police arrested seven persons and Ukhia Thana Police arrested two persons on Tuesday night.

Operation Officer of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector Shahed Uddin told banglanews that seven persons were arrested from different areas in a special drive.

On the other hand, Officer-in-Charge of Ukhia Thana Gias Uddin Mia confirmed the arrest of two persons.

Police also claimed that the arrestees were activists of BNP and Jamaat.
