Ex- state minister Afshar Uddin Khan dies

Former state minister for housing and public works Advocate Afshar Uddin Ahmed Khan passed away on Tuesday night (Nov 16). He was 81.

Afshar Uddin, the younger brother of Bangladesh's first Prime Minister Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed, died at his residence in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur.

Kapasia Upazila Parishad Chairman Advocate Amanat Hossain Khan confirmed the matter.

He was elected Member of Parliament from Gazipur-4 (Kapasia) constituency from Awami League ticket in the 7th Parliamentary Election of 1996.

Later, he was made state minister for housing and public works on June 23 in 1996 but he resigned in 1997 after only six months.
