BNP lawmakers on Sunday formed a human chain in front of South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad in Manik Mia Avenue demanding the immediate release of party chairperson Khaleda Zia for better treatment abroad.
The lawmakers staged the programme in front of the parliament building for about an hour on Sunday morning.
The six MPs -- Harun Or Rashid from Chapainwabganj-3, Aminul Islam from Chapainwabganj-2, Abdus Sattar from Brahmanbaria-2, Mosharraf Hossain from Bogura-4, Golam Mohammad Siraj from Bogura-6 parliamentary constituencies and Barrister Rumeen Farhana, a BNP lawmaker from reserved seat – took part in the human chain.
Khaleda, a 76-year-old former prime minister, was readmitted to Evercare Hospital on 13 November, six days after she had returned home from the hospital.
Her physicians said she has been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, ophthalmological and dental complications.
According to them, Khaleda needs advanced treatment abroad immediately as she is also suffering from critical cardiac, kidney problems while her blood sugar is out of control and hemoglobin level in her blood has dropped.
On November 11, Khaleda's younger brother, Shamim Iskander, submitted an application to the Home Ministry urging the government to allow her to go abroad for better treatment.
