After 12 days of treatment, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was discharged today (Dec 26) from the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka.

Obaidul Quader, also the Awami League General Secretary, however, reached his ministry from the hospital and joined a programme virtually.

He inaugurated the bus route franchise (BRF) service on a pilot basis from Ghatarchar to Katchpur.

The minister, who was admitted to hospital with chest pain since December 14, was released from the hospital around 9:30am.

Obaidul Quader was discharged this morning as he fully recovered, said Professor Dr Atikur Rahman, chairman of the BSMMU's respiratory medicine department and a member of the 10-member medical board formed for the minister's treatment.
