The authorities of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) expelled four students, including university unit BCL general secretary Sadman Nahian Sejan, over the unnatural death of Professor Dr Md Selim Hossain.

The other three are Abu Hasan Abdullah Kaiyum, Md Kamruzzaman Razzak and Riaz Khan Niloy.

The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting of the Student Discipline Committee held at the KUET meeting room on Wednesday (Jan 5) this noon.

Prof Selim, a professor of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department, died hours after some Chhatra League activists, led by Sadman Nahyan Sejan, allegedly confined the teacher to his office and mentally tortured him to accept their choice as dining manager of Lalan Shah Hall for December.

Teachers and students of the university said the BCL activists were responsible for the unnatural death of Prof Selim Hossain and demanded proper action against the people involved. 

Prof Selim's father Shukur Ali demanded proper investigation, saying that his son might have been murdered.

Meanwhile, the body of Prof Selim Hossain was exhumed from his grave in Kushtia's Kumarkhali upazila on December 15 in presence of a magistrate.
