BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia returned home from the capital's Evercare Hospital on Tuesday evening after 80 days.
She left the hospital around 7:45 pm.
Addressing a press conference at the hospital around 7:00 pm, Khaleda Zia’s medical board chief Fakhruddin Mohammad Siddiqui said that Khaleda Zia’s health was now stable but not totally cured.
She was still suffering from intermitted internal bleeding as she still needed advance treatment abroad, he added.
On November 13 last year, Khaleda Zia, a 76-year-old former prime minister, was readmitted to the hospital with various health complications.
Her medical board members earlier said Khaleda immediately needs to go abroad for better treatment as she was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.
On behalf of her family, Khaleda's younger brother, Shamim Iskander, submitted an application to the Home Ministry on November 11 urging the government to allow her to go abroad for better treatment.
On December 28, 2021, the government said there is no legal scope to send BNP chief Khaleda Zia abroad for her treatment.
