The family of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has further sought an extension of her suspended prison sentence.

Khaleda Zia's brother Shamim Iskander submitted an application to the Home Ministry in the last week, BNP sources said.

Shamim Iskander also sought permission for Khaleda Zia to go abroad for treatment.

When asked, BNP Chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan told Banglanews: "The application was filed on behalf of the family. That's why we can't say anything officially."

So far, the suspension of Khaleda Zia's prison sentence has been extended four times while the current term will end on March 24.
