FARIDPUR: A Jubo Dal activist was shot dead in a clash between hartal supporters and cops in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur.

The deceased was identified as Maruf Hossain, 22, son of Rabu Sheikh, of Nagarkanda municipal area.

Faridpur’s additional police super Bijoy Bosak told banglanews that he is yet to confirm the matter as he is on way to the spot.

Putting tree logs, BNP-Juba Dal men blocked roads in Jungardi bus stand area of the upazila at around 7:00am in support of 60-hour hartal called by 18-pary alliance.

On information police rushed in and obstructed the hartal supporters that triggered clash between them.

Nagarkanda health complex residential medical officer Dr Mahbub Hossain confirmed the death news of Maruf.

The 60-hour nonstop nationwide hartal, called by the BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway on Sunday amid stray incidents of violence.
