A Dhaka court placed five people, including Saleh Sikder alias Shooter Saleh, on a five-day remand in Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Prity murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Noor granted the remand after investigating officer of the case, Inspector of Police Mohammad Yasin Sikder, produce them before it with a 10-day remand plea on Sunday afternoon.
The remanded persons are Mohammad Omar Faruk, Nasir Uddin alias Killer Nasir, Morshedul Alam alias Kailla Palash and Arfan Ullah Damal.
On the night of March 24, Tipu, who was on a microbus, and Samia Afrin Priti, a 22-year-old college student, who was returning home on a cycle rickshaw, were killed in firing in front of Islami Bank Hospital.
Tipu was a former general secretary of the AL Motijheel committee while Priti was a student of Begum Badrunnesa Government College. Tipu’s driver was also injured in the firing.
Farhana Islam Doly, the wife of Tipu, filed a murder case with Shahjahanpur Police Station on March 25.
