BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was taken to a city hospital for health check-ups on Wednesday (April 6).

She reached the Evercare Hospital in the capital at 5:05 pm. Earlier, she started towards the hospital from her Gulshan residence ‘Firoza’ at 4:15 pm.

BNP Vice-Chairman Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain is accompanying Khaleda Zia.

On April 5, a medical team went to the residence of the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to monitor her latest health condition. 

On November 13 last year, Khaleda Zia, a 76-year-old former prime minister, was readmitted to the hospital with various health complications.

Her medical board members earlier said Khaleda immediately needs to go abroad for better treatment as she was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.

On behalf of her family, Khaleda's younger brother, Shamim Iskander, submitted an application to the Home Ministry on November 11 urging the government to allow her to go abroad for better treatment.

On December 28, 2021, the government said there is no legal scope to send Khaleda Zia abroad for her treatment.

On February 1 this year, she returned home after an 81-day stay in the hospital.
