Ex-Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat was granted bail in arms and money laundering cases.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain passed the bail order in the money laundering case while Dhaka's First Addtiional Metropolitan Sessions Judge granted the bail in the arms case Sunday (April 10).
Though Samrat secured bail in two cases, but he will not be released from jail now as hearing of another two cases filed against him will be held recently.
On October 6, 2019, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat in a predawn raid at a village in Cumilla's Chauddagram upazila where he was hiding to evade justice.
In a subsequent action, police raided his Kakrail office in the capital and recovered huge quantities of foreign liquor, guns and rare species of wildlife skins.
Immediately after his arrest, a mobile court sentenced Samrat to six months of jail term for possessing wildlife skins as the law enforcement agencies and the ACC proceeded with subsequent legal steps.
