A Dhaka court has granted permanent bail to ex-Juba League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat in another case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
Judge Tehsin Iftekhar of Dhaka 7th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge passed the bail order on Monday upon a bond of Tk 10,000 with two guarantors.
Earlier, Samrat's lawyer submitted the bail petition on health grounds.
On Sunday, two Dhaka courts granted bail to Samrat in arms and money laundering cases.
On October 6, 2019, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat in a predawn raid at a village in Cumilla's Chauddagram upazila where he was hiding to evade justice.
In a subsequent action, police raided his Kakrail office in the capital and recovered huge quantities of foreign liquor, guns and rare species of wildlife skins.
Immediately after his arrest, a mobile court sentenced Samrat to six months of jail term for possessing wildlife skins as the law enforcement agencies and the ACC proceeded with subsequent legal steps.
Samrat came under the spotlight after Rab had busted his illegal casino business at different sporting clubs in Dhaka. Later, he was expelled from the Jubo League.
