A Dhaka court on Wednesday (April 13)rejected the bail petition of ex-Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat in a graft.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 Judge Al Asad Mohammad Asifuzzaman rejected the bail after hearing the petition.
On Monday, Samrat was granted bail in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act while on Sunday two Dhaka courts granted him bail in arms and money laundering cases.
On October 6, 2019, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat in a predawn raid at a village in Cumilla's Chauddagram upazila where he was hiding to evade justice.
In a subsequent action, police raided his Kakrail office in the capital and recovered huge quantities of foreign liquor, guns and rare species of wildlife skins.
Immediately after his arrest, a mobile court sentenced Samrat to six months of jail term for possessing wildlife skins as the law enforcement agencies and the ACC proceeded with subsequent legal steps.
Samrat came under the spotlight after Rab had busted his illegal casino business at different sporting clubs in Dhaka. Later, he was expelled from the Jubo League.
