Ruling Awami League MP Haji Mohammad Salim, convicted of 10 years' imprisonment in a corruption case, is set to surrender to a lower court in Dhaka today.
He has returned home from Thailand on May 5 amid controversy over his leaving the country for treatment.
Being convicted in a graft case, Haji Salim left Dhaka for Bangkok in the name of treatment ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr secretly on April 29.
He has been at the risk of losing his membership of parliament since the High Court confirmed his 10-year jail term in March 2021 in an illegal wealth accumulation case filed one and a half decades ago.
Parliament has not yet decided on his membership.
