The High Court (HC) today (May 22) ordered the lower court concerned to dispose of within a year a graft case against former Cox's Bazar-4 lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order, summarily rejecting Bodi's plea to stay the proceedings of the case.
Advocate Rafikul Islam Sohel moved the writ petition before the court, while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan vehemently opposed it for the Anti-Corruption Commission. Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik stood for the state.
The anti-graft body on December 17, 2007, filed the case against Abdur Rahman Bodi with Chattogram Double Mooring Police Station. ACC filed charge-sheet on June 24, 2008. A Chattogram court on September 13, 2020, framed charges against Bodi.
