Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to start holding formal dialogue today with the political parties to create a 'national unity' in restoring democracy.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came made the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka.
On the first day, the party will hold talks with Nagorik Oikya at 5 pm at its Topkhana Road office, he said.
The BNP leader also said their party’s standing committee chaired by BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman took the decision at its virtual meeting on Monday night.
Asked whether they will hold a discussion with the Jamaat-e-Islami, Fakhrul said they want to talk to every party, including Jamaat.
Regarding the existence of the 20-party alliance, he said as they did not abolish the 20-party alliance, the future course of the alliance will be determined through the talks.
