BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the city, was shifted to a cabin from the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on Wednesday (June 15).

The former prime minister was shifted to the cabin from the CCU around 1:10 pm.

BNP chairperson's media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter.

Earlier on June 11, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said doctors have advised Khaleda Zia to be taken abroad for advanced treatment.

He also urged the government for the immediate release of the party Chairperson to go abroad for advanced treatment as she suffered a mild heart attack.

However, Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader said doctors can be brought from abroad for treatment of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, if necessary.

Physicians at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka installed a ring in the heart of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia following her acute heart attack on June 11.

Besides, the medical board at Evercare Hospital said that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia suffered a coronary heart attack.

Medical Board constituted for her treatment said she needs better treatment following the heart attack, said BNP Chairperson’s personal physician Professor AZM Zahid Hossain.

He said the board requested family members of Khaleda Zia to take her abroad for treatment.

However, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said that court permission is needed to take BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment. Home Minister further said that Khaleda Zia is currently a convict in a case.

Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung and eye problems.
