Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (June 25) invited BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to visit the Padma Bridge.
The Prime Minister made the call at a rally of Awami League at Jazira point after inaugurating the much-expected Padma Bridge on Saturday.
Sheikh Hasina said, “People of Bangladesh cast their votes and we have been nominated. Then, we working to fulfil the dream of the countrymen.”
“Overcoming many odds, we have ensured food security of the people. We are now independent in food production,” she added.
Earlier on June 23, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that they decided not to join the inauguration programme of the Padma Bridge because of an earlier alleged threat to the life of its chairperson Khaleda Zia.
However, the government invited seven leaders of opposition BNP to join the inauguration ceremony of the much-awaited Padma Bridge on June 22.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia returned home on June 24 from the capital’s Evercare Hospital after treatment for 13 days.
