Police arrested a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for allegedly carrying 140 pieces of Yaba tablets from Mirsharai Upazila in Chattogram. 

The detainee was identified as Safar Ali (23), Organizing secretary of BCL of Moghadiya Union. Besides, he has been expelled from the post of Union Chhatra League for indulging in anti-organizational activities.

A press release signed by President Abu Nashar Ripon, and General Secretary Touhid Anwar Bappi of Moghadia Union Chhatra League was issued regarding his dismissal on Tuesday (July 19).

Abu Nashar Ripon said that as the organization does not take responsibility for a crime committed by someone, Safar Ali was expelled from the party post.

Ekramul Haque Sohel, Senior Joint Convener of Upazila Chhatra League, said there is no room for drug addicts in the organization.

“As Chhatra League must not face image crisis for anyone's misdeed, he was relieved of his post," he said.
