Police have sought a 7-day remand for five Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists each in the case filed over the sexual harassment of a female student at Chattogram University.

The arrestees are Md Azim, 2nd year students of history department of Chittagong University, Nurul Abshar Babu 2nd year student of Anthropology Department, Nur Hossain Shawon the first year student of Social Science Department of Hathajari College, Masood Rana, and Saiful Islam second year students of the same department.

Ruhul Amin Sabuj, Acting OC of Hathajari Model Police Station, confirmed this matter to Banglanews on Sunday (July 24) afternoon.

He said The Hon'ble Court accepted the application. We will interrogate them if we get the court order.

A female student was physically assaulted by five youths, which sparked protests on the campus, while she was going to Botanical Garden from Pritilata Hall with her friends around 10pm on July 17 (Sunday).

The victim filed the case with Hathazari police station on July 20 (Wednesday).
