Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jubo League allegedly attacked Feni BNP procession leaving at least 15 people injured in Feni on Friday (August 12).
This incident happened when Feni district BNP leaders staged a protest rally following the increase in daily commodities and fuel prices.
According to eyewitnesses, a procession around 3:30 pm by the district BNP from Islam Road in the city was coming towards Zero Point on Trunk Road, when Chhatra League and Jubo League activists chased BNP activists. At one stage 15 people from three parties were injured.
Later, police fired 10/12 rounds of rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, said, eyewitnesses.
District BNP Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal said that it was BNP’s pre-planned programme, and suddenly the terrorists of Chhatra League and Jubo League attacked.
He said that 15 leaders and activists were injured in the attack. Some of them were seriously injured.
However, the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Feni Model Police Station Nizam Uddin confirmed the matter and said to bring clashes under control police fired blank bullets.
“Additional police force has been deployed in the city for safety. I don't know if anyone was injured in this incident, said OC”
