Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday (August 16) said he has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take action as there has been an excess in Barguna incident.
Replying to a question, he also said "I saw (the incident) on Facebook. An inquiry committee has been formed. Let the investigation be completed".
The minister was talking to newsmen at his Secretariat office today.
Asaduzzaman said he saw some clips on social media from one perspective. There might be several perspectives to the incident, he noted.
At least 50 activists and leaders were injured during a clash between two fractions of Bangladesh Chhatra League in Barguna yesterday, during National Mourning Day programme.
During the clash, the BCL men also attacked police who charged batons on them at Shilpakala Academy and nearby areas, police said.
In a video clip that went viral on social media, some police officials were seen engaged in altercation with local lawmaker Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu during the incident.
