Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) celebrates its 44th founding anniversary across the country on Thursday with various programmes.
BNP, its front and associate organisations have taken up various programmes, including rallies and discussions, to mark the day.
As per the scheduled programmes, the party flag has been hoisted atop its Nayapaltan central office and all other unit offices of BNP across the country at 6 am on Thursday.
Besides, BNP senior leaders will place wreaths and offer fateha at the grave of its founder, Ziaur Rahman, at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the capital at 12 noon on the day.
Later, the leaders and activists of the party will hold a rally in front of the BNP's Naypaltan central office at 3 pm, marking the day.
The party will also arrange a discussion at 3 pm on Friday (September 2). BNP senior leaders will speak at the event.
BNP's different units and front and associate organsiations across the country will celebrate the day by holding various programmes, including discussions and rallies.
In its 43-year journey, the BNP had been in power several times and on the opposition bench twice. The BNP has been out of power for nearly 15 years since the 1/11 political changeover.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a message, congratulated the people of the country, party leaders, workers, activists, and well-wishers on the occasion.
On September 1, 1978, the late President Ziaur Rahman founded the party with a 19-point programme.
