A local Awami League (Al) leader was publicly shot dead by opponents today (Sep 9) around 1 pm in Pabna.

The deceased was identified as Saidur Pramanik (50). Advocate Taslim Hasan Sumon confirmed that he was an executive member of Pabna Municipal Awami League.

The incident took place at Najur intersection of Char Bangabaria in Hemayetpur Union of the Upazila.

According to the deceased's family, and locals, Saidur was sitting with some people in a tea shop at Najur Mor few minutes before Juma prayers. Suddenly some miscreants surrounded him. However, his accomplices managed to run away, later, the miscreants shot him indiscriminately. After that he died on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Masood Alam said, the incident took place around 1 pm. "We are on the spot. I can give details later."
