The old ferry ghat area of Muktarpur in Munshiganj Sadar Upazila turned into a battlefield when BNP leaders and activists involved in clashes with the members of police Wednesday (Sep 21).

Many people on both sides were injured in the clash that started around 3 pm, Banglanews correspondent reports.

Police and BNP sources said that there was a pre-planned program of BNP in the ferry ghat area this afternoon. Later, BNP leaders and activists were restricted by the police when they were marching ahead following the program, they said. 

At that time, BNP leaders and activists started throwing bricks and stones targeting police, in return, Police also fired rubber bullets and tear gas, they added.

However, two journalists were also injured in the clash.
