Kiwis await security expert`s green signal

DHAKA: New Zealand cricketers are reportedly waiting for a security expert to give the green light for their visit to Bangladesh for the ICC World T-20 tournament, to be held in Bangladesh in March and April.

A high-powered security meeting is scheduled for Dhaka where senior officials of Bangladesh Cricket Board will plead its case to retain the tournament, as recent political violence in the country placed its hosting rights in doubt.

According to stuff.co.nz, New Zealand also had to face its share of problems while in Bangladesh last year, with a Molotov cocktail being thrown at the team`s hotel in Chittagong, with a concerned New Zealand Players` Association saying that they need to be convinced about players` security before going ahead.

The key figure in this case is former Australian detective Reg Dickason, who was New Zealand`s security man when a bomb exploded outside their hotel in Karachi in 2002, and the report mentioned that Dickason will attend the meeting as an independent advisor for FICA, the international players` association.
