The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today (November 5) announced Mohammad Salahuddin as the senior assistant coach for the national cricket team, with his contract set until March 15, 2025.

Salahuddin brings two decades of coaching experience to the role, having previously served as both an assistant coach and a fielding coach for the national team from 2006 to 2010. He also held the position of specialist coach at the BCB National Cricket Academy from 2010 to 2011. In 2014, he took on the role of head coach for Singapore, leading the team in the ICC World Cricket League Division 4.

With an ACC-Cricket Australia Level 3 accreditation, Salahuddin is recognized as one of the most accomplished local coaches, having secured multiple titles in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League with various teams he has coached.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed commented that Salahuddin's addition to the national coaching staff will open doors for more local coaches in the future.

“When I assumed the presidency of the BCB, I pledged to create opportunities for deserving individuals to contribute to the national team. Salahuddin brings significant experience, skill, and expertise, making him an excellent fit for this position. I strongly believe it’s time to incorporate more qualified Bangladeshi coaches into our system,” Faruque stated in a Tuesday announcement.

Salahuddin is set to accompany the Bangladesh team when they depart Dhaka for the West Indies on November 10 to compete in two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
