Bangladesh’s bowlers produced a disciplined display to bowl out Afghanistan for 190 in 44.5 overs in the second ODI at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Afghanistan struggled to build momentum as Bangladesh struck at regular intervals. Tanzim Hasan Sakib gave the Tigers a perfect start, removing Rahmanullah Gurbaz (11) and Sedikullah Atal (8) early. Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz then dismissed Hashmatullah Shahidi (4) and Rashid Khan (0), finishing with impressive figures of 3/32 from nine overs.
Ibrahim Zadran anchored the innings with a fighting 95 off 140 balls, including three boundaries and a six, but lacked support at the other end. His dismissal at deep mid-wicket, just nine runs short of a century, ended Afghanistan’s resistance.
Mohammad Nabi (22) and Gulbadin Naib (22) made brief contributions, while Rahmat Shah retired hurt on 9 and did not return. The lower order failed to add much as Bangladesh maintained tight control with both pace and spin.
Rishad Hossain (2/28) and Tanzim (2/35) backed up Miraz’s efforts, ensuring Afghanistan fell short of a competitive total.
With a target of 191, Bangladesh now have a strong chance to level the three-match series after losing the first game. The chase began under favorable conditions with dew expected to play a role later in the evening.
