DHAKA: The Dhaka Premier League match between Cricket Coaching School (CCS) and Brothers Union has been cancelled after CCS arrived late at Fatullah Cricket Stadium citing traffic jam, which prompted Brothers Union to demand a walkover.

CCS traveled from Kalabagan, 20km from the stadium on the southern outskirts of Dhaka. According to match referee Samiur Rahman, who had travelled with the team, a lorry had collapsed on the other side of Jatrabari road, approximately 10km from the ground, forcing one lane to be closed. There was also a collision of two buses, which blocked the road.

CCS reached the ground ten minutes before the toss and about 45 minutes after their arrival scheduled time. The match referee asked for a delayed start, because a provision of 30 minutes grace period has been added to the by-laws because of the Surjo Tarun incident last year - they had arrived late to BKSP ground and were demoted to the First Division Cricket League. But Brothers Union refused to take part in the toss, and boycotted the match.

Jalal Yunus, chairman of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis, has said that the decision on the match will be taken after Eid holidays as the league has been closed off early.

"There won`t be any more matches before Eid so we will hold the hearing and take a decision afterwards," Jalal said. "There are several factors to consider here. CCS has claimed that there was an incident on their way to the ground. We have to check police reports. The match referee has also admitted that he has travelled with CCS so we have to take that into the equation too."
