Bangladesh posted 296 for 8 in the series-deciding ODI against West Indies on Thursday, powered by a blistering 176-run opening stand between Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar.
Saif scored 82 off 72 balls, hitting six fours and six sixes, while Soumya narrowly missed a century with 91 runs, including seven fours and four sixes. The hosts smashed 11 sixes in total, setting a new record for most sixes in an ODI at Mirpur, beating their previous best of 10.
Despite the explosive opening, Bangladesh couldn’t cross the 300-run mark. Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowlers for West Indies with four wickets, while Alick Athanaze took two.
