DHAKA: Jagannath University teachers’ association has decided to boycott classes from 11:00am Thursday to press home their 8-point demands.

The decision came from an emergency meeting of the teachers’ association of the university on Wednesday afternoon.

The demands include, recovering halls from illegal occupying, removal of deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police of Lalbagh zone Harun-or-Rashid and Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana Moniruzzaman.

President of JnU Teachers’ Association Professor Dr Sarker Ali Akkas told banglanews that teachers would take classes from 8:00am to 11:00am only.

The examinations would remain out of the purview of the protest programme, he added.

He also said that teachers also decided to submit memorandum to the concerned ministry over the issue.
