RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: Rajshahi University unit Chhatra League on Saturday declared to continue the strike till the arrest of Ashraful Alam, Chhatra Shibir president of RU unit for his alleged involvement in killing of BCL leader Rustom Ali.

General Secretary of RU unit Chhatra League SM Tauhid Al Hossain Tuhin made the announcement at the central cafeteria of the university around 4:30pm.

He alleged that Chhattra Shibir killed Rustom Ali, Suhrawardy Hall unit leader, in a planned way.

He also said they would form a human chain and collect signatures from mass students at Central Shaheed Minar at 10:00am Sunday demanding a proper trial of the murder.

RU Chhatra League president Mizanur Rahman Rana, among others, was present in the press briefing.

Meanwhile, they also presented a 6-point memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of the university to ensure the security of general students.

The points include: arresting and exemplary punishment of the murderers of BCL leader Rustom Ali, providing financial compensation to the victim family, expelling Chhatra Shibir cadres who were involved with attacking Chhatra League men including killing Chhatra League activist Faruque, declaring every fundamentalist organizations including Chhatra Shibir forbidden in the university, to ensure the security of general students and completing the election of RUCSU and other departmental elections.

On Friday (April 4), BCL leader Rustom Ali was shot dead in his Suhrawardy Hall room.
