HSC 2025: 69,097 secure GPA-5

Bangladesh on Thursday (October 16) published the results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, with 69,097 students achieving the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) across all 11 education boards. 

By comparison, 145,911 candidates secured GPA-5 in 2024—indicating a decline of 76,814 this year. 

Results were published simultaneously at 10 am and are available through schools, board websites, and SMS. 

Board-wise, GPA-5 achievers are as follows: Dhaka 26,063; Rajshahi 10,137; Cumilla 2,707; Jashore 5,995; Chattogram 6,097; Barishal 1,674; Sylhet 1,602; Dinajpur 6,260; Mymensingh 2,684; Madrasah 4,268; and Technical 1,610—totalling 69,097. 

The board and body names follow official usage: the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka; Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board; and Bangladesh Technical Education Board. 

This year, 1,251,111 candidates from nine general boards, the Madrasah board and the Technical board sat for the HSC and equivalent exams, held at 2,797 centres nationwide. Of the examinees, 618,015 were male and 633,096 were female. 

The Technical stream includes HSC (BM/BMT) programmes under BTEB, and the Madrasah stream corresponds to the Alim examination. 

According to the board, the number of HSC examinees was: Dhaka, 291,241; Rajshahi, 133,242; Cumilla, 101,750; Jashore, 116,317; Chattogram, 101,035; Barishal, 61,025; Sylhet, 69,683; Dinajpur, 103,832; and Mymensingh, 78,273. 

Under the Madrasah board, 86,102 students took the Alim exam; under the Technical board, 109,611 candidates appeared for HSC (BM/BMT). Official titles and spellings have been verified against board references.
