DHAKA: Progotishil Chhatra Jote on Sunday declared a three-day demonstration programme at Dhaka University protesting the authorities’ plan to introduce evening Masters course in a number of departments.

Leaders of the student organization said they would stage demonstration on the campus on July 12-14 protesting the decision. They also called a daylong strike in the Arts Faculty on July 15 if the authorities do not withdraw its plan within this period.

Extending their supports to the movement, students of the 24 departments and some student politicos brought out a procession on the campus.

They alleged that most of the teachers do not take class regularly and results could not be published in time.

“If the night shift begins, they will remain busy with the new course and we will be deprived further,” said Ferdaus Amin, a student of the Law Department.

The students said that in the name of providing higher education, “nigh shift business” would not be allowed at the University.
