DHAKA: As many as 164 students will receive ‘PM Gold Medal’ of University Grants Commission (UGC) on January 8.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the awards to the students at PMO in city at 10:00am on the day.

UGC deputy secretary (public relations) Mohammad Omar Faruq said that the students, who stood first at several faculties of public universities in the session 2011-2012, will receive the PM awards.

According to the UGC, the awardees will get gold medal and prize money.

However, the award was introduced in 2006 with the aim of encouraging the students to flourish their talent.
