DHAKA: The government has extended Durga Puja holidays to five days from existing three days in primary schools. 

Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Md Akram-Al-Hossain told Banglanews on Wednesday (September 25) that the Durga puja holidays were extended for two days.

This year, the holidays of puja in the secondary-level academic calendar are eight days from October 4 (Friday) to October 13 (Sunday). On the academic calendar of the primary, the holidays were three days from October 7 (Monday) to October 9 (Wednesday).

The secretary of the Ministry of Elementary and Mass Education said that students and teachers of the primary schools will enjoy puja holidays for five days, including October 5 and 6. 

This year, the primary schools will remain closed from October 5 to 9.

Earlier, the Directorate of Primary Education sent a letter the ministry recommending the extension of puja holidays for primary schools.
