The government has cancelled Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dhakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations for this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

MA Khair, public relations officer at the Ministry of Education confirmed the news on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the ongoing closure of all educational institutions across the country was also extended till October 3, aiming at slowing down further spread of coronavirus in the country.

The decision to cancel JSC and JDC exams comes two days after the Primary Education Completion (PEC) and its equivalent examinations for this year were also canceled on August 25.

Following the detection of first coronavirus patient in the country on March 8, all education institutions were declared shut from March 17. The closure was extended till August 31 in several phases.

Many educational institutions are currently conducting classes online and through television broadcast.
