Professor Md Hanif, prominent educationist and former principal of Barisal Government Brojomohun (BM) College, died at a hospital in the capital on Monday night. He was 90.

Md Hanif breathed his last at city’s Ibne Sina Hospital around 10:15pm.

He was suffering from old age complications for long, said Alamin Sarwar, general secretary of the teachers' council of the college.

Barisal University Vice-Chancellor professor Dr Md Shadekul Arefin expressed deep shock at the death of Hanif.

Besides, Barisal District and City Awami League, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Barisal City Corporation Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, Barisal Press Club, Barisal Reporters Unity and other organisations expressed deep shock at the demise of the eminent educationist.
