Bashundhara Eye Hospital provides free service in Madaripur

Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) provided free treatments among underprivileged people in Madaripur on Friday as part of countrywide eye camp. 

Noted novelist and Kaler Kantho editor-in-chief Imdadul Haq Milan inaugurated the daylong eye camp as chief guest while BEHRI founding director Professor Dr Saleh Ahmed was also present on the occasion.

Vision Care Foundation facilitated the day-long camp at master colony of the town in patron of Shahidur Rahman Shahin, a senior general manager at Bashundhara Group.

The patients received necessary medicines at free of cost while free surgery has been provided to those suffering from eye problems such as cataracts and macular degeneration along with spectacles services.

BEHRI founding director Prof Saleh Ahmed supervised the 8-member medical team.

Regarding the eye camp, Dr Saleh said that BEHRI have conducted free eye camps in 10 more districts this year.

“The philanthropic activities of Bashundhara Group continue throughout the year. We provided treatment to all patients who came to the camp. Patients with severe problems will be taken to Dhaka for cataract surgery at free of cost and brought back to Madaripur later,” he said.

Applauding the philanthropic activities of industrial conglomerate, Imdadul Haq Milon said that Bashundhara Group keeps its efforts for wellbeing of people and the country.

“Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan always inspires us to stand by the people. The eye camp is as part of social initiative. We will always work for the welfare of people,” he said.

Kaler Kantho senior sub-editor Zakaria Zaman and Bashundhara Group senior general manager Sahidur Rahman Shahin were present on the occasion.
