Dengue: 11 dead, 2,905 hospitalised in 24 hours

At least 11 dengue patients died while 2,905 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 13), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, 1,042 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,863 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total 398 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

According to DGHS, this year till today 4,423 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 5,407 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

A total of 85,411 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 42,746 were in Dhaka and 42,665 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 75,280 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 38,104 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 37,176 others left hospitals outside the capital. 

Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
